An introductory activity which gives students some geographical context to the Civil War. Students colour code the Union and Confederate states, and there are three versions of a map of the states for differentiation. Students use clues to locate key events from the beginning of the war. It was written for AQA's GCSE Unit 1A America, 1840–1895: Expansion and consolidation.
